Tip: hold your phone flat and away from metal objects when checking with a compass app, for the most accurate reading.

How it works : your qibla is the great-circle (shortest-path) bearing from your location to the Kaaba in Makkah (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E) — the same standard method used by scholars and prayer apps worldwide. The compass above points along that bearing from true north.

Common questions

What direction is the qibla from Pakistan?

West or west-southwest — about 256° from Islamabad, 260° from Lahore and 268° from Karachi (nearly due west). Select your city above for the exact figure.

Is the qibla exactly west from Pakistan?

Very close, but not exactly. Due west is 270°; the true qibla is about 268° from Karachi, 260° from Lahore and 256° from Islamabad — the further north you are, the further south of west it points.

How is the qibla direction calculated?

With the great-circle initial-bearing formula from your coordinates to the Kaaba (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). This gives the shortest path over the Earth's surface and is the scholarly standard.

Why do different apps show slightly different qibla angles?

Small differences come from different Kaaba coordinates or older flat-map approximations. The great-circle bearing to the Kaaba's exact coordinates — which this tool uses — is accurate to a fraction of a degree.

How do I use the qibla angle with my phone?

Open any compass app, hold the phone flat and away from metal objects, then turn until the compass reads the qibla angle shown above. That heading is your qibla direction.
