Common questions
Is it safe to generate passwords on a website?
Here, yes — because generation happens inside your own browser using its built-in secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues). The password is never sent over the network, stored, or logged. You can verify this: disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
How long should my passwords be?
At least 12 characters for everyday accounts and 16 or more for email, banking, and anything tied to money. Length beats cleverness: a long plain phrase you can remember beats a short jumble you write on a sticky note.
Should I use the same password on multiple sites?
Never. If one site leaks its passwords, attackers try the same password everywhere else. Use a different password per site — a password manager makes this painless — and turn on two-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
What is the "exclude look-alike characters" option?
It removes characters that are easy to confuse when reading or typing a password: capital I, small l, digit 1, capital O, and digit 0. Useful when you must type a password by hand, for example on a TV or a shared computer.
